Discover Pozar Baths & Edessa Waterfalls

Edessa is known as the "city of waters" for the rivers and waterfalls that run through it, the largest being the Karanos waterfall that drops around 70 metres beside the old Varosi quarter. The surrounding area is green and mountainous, a contrast to the coastal destinations of the region.

Loutra Pozar, the Pozar thermal baths, lie further north in a gorge at the foot of Mount Kaimaktsalan. Warm mineral-rich water emerges from the rock at around 37°C, feeding open-air pools, indoor baths, and a small river you can bathe in even in winter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we customise the itinerary?

Yes. The program is a proposal — we can spend longer at the thermal baths, add the Edessa old town and watermills, or adjust the pace to your preference.

Can the tour be extended?

Yes. The day can be extended in duration, and on request we can arrange a specialized professional guide.

What should we bring?

Swimwear, a towel, and flip-flops for the thermal baths, plus comfortable shoes for the Edessa paths. A change of clothes is handy after the springs.

Is the entrance to the baths included?

No. The Pozar baths entrance is paid on site and is not included in the tour.

Is it suitable all year round?

Yes. The warm springs are especially popular in autumn and winter, and we drive the route year-round.
